This weekend, myself and my good friend Mark Bridge are raising money for Mind by taking part in the Heineken Race to the Tower on the 10-11 June.
It's two marathons over two days across the Cotswolds (although we are walking, not running, I'm afraid).
As my friends and colleagues know, I had a severe bipolar episode in 2014 which left me hospitalised for a few weeks and then unable to work for around nine months.
I had amazing support from the NHS and was able to attend a recovery centre and get plenty of talking therapy to get me back on my feet.
Other friends who have been through crises just as severe have not had such swift access to support. Mental health services really are a postcode lottery and Mind fills in many of the gaps providing vital support to millions of people.
I'm very grateful to Heineken for inviting Mark and I to take on this challenge and for giving us so much support in the run-up and over the weekend itself.
Also, I'm using a new platform for fundraising called Wonderful instead of Just Giving, which takes a very large slice of donations (you can read more here)
Wonderful promises to give every penny to charity. I'd be so grateful for any sponsorship or sharing of this post on social media.
