Mental Wealth is a blog looking at all aspects of mental health, but with a keen interest in the overlap between money and mental illness.
Leah Milner is a journalist specialising in property, finance and mental health. Leah was formerly a reporter on The Times, where she won a number of awards for her work. In 2014 she suffered a severe manic episode followed by a deep depression. She was diagnosed with bipolar.
It took nearly a year to get back on her feet, but after that she returned to work as a freelance journalist, contributing to titles such as The Guardian, Which? and Vice among others.
Leah has enjoyed taking part in a number of speaking opportunities to help raise awareness of the link between money problems and mental illness. In 2016, she spoke at a number of events organised by the Money and Mental Health Policy Institute, including an industry roundtable, the launch of a research paper at the House of Commons, at an event hosted by City Lit and on Share Radio. She will continue to help raise the profile of this and other issues facing those with mental illness.
She is passionate about painting and attends London Fine Art Studios in Clapham as a part-time student. She is also a keen photographer and recently exhibited at Candid Arts. She raised over £3,000 for Mind by walking 100km in 24 hours and is looking forward to more opportunities to campaign for better understanding and treatment of people with mental illness.
